UK has the best drivers

A leading insurance provider has researched driver behaviours across Europe and found that Britain has the most safety conscious and law abiding motorists

The survey took into account driving behaviour which is both necessary under law and driving styles which are viewed as kind or sensible to other road users. 4% of Brits drink drive compared to the Euro average of 21%, 9% of us drive without a seatbelt compared to 17% abroad whilst 12% of us are prone to using a mobile phone whilst driving compared to the Euro average of 30%. Common road traffic offences such as speeding, red light and overtaking on solid white lines are lower in the UK when compared to the rest of Europe. The research did find that us Brits tend to drive for longer periods without a break and tend to undertake on motorways more.
