Road Salt Shortage

A leading motoring organisation suspects councils of not having enough road salt for extended periods of freezing weather

The suspicions have come from an ‘industry insider’ and it is claimed that due to last year’s heavy snowfall stocks of road salt are down. It is estimated that the amount of salt councils have is ¼ million less than a decade ago. The Local Government Association (LGA) has said the concerns are “ridiculous scaremongering” and that “councils are more than prepared to provide the large dollop of salt with which their opinion should be taken.”
