New SHARP Motorcycle Helmet ratings
The Government scheme to safety rate motorcycle helmets has added another 25 models to their list, bringing the total to 175
SHARP (Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme) uses a wider range of tests than those needed for the minimum legal safety requirements and includes a 5-star ratings system to help riders select a helmet that provides good protection at a their price point. The scheme reveals that motorcycle helmet safety performance can vary by as much as 70%. Manufacturers added include Fusion, LS2, Scorpion and Viper.
