Speed limits for vans
Goods vehicles that do not exceed 7.5 tonnes are subject to different speed limits than cars on single and dual carriageways
The national speed limits for cars on single and dual carriageways are 60mph and 70mph respectively. For vans the limit decreases to 50mph and 60mph. Lower speed limits that are in force in and around built up areas still have to be adhered to, whatever the class of vehicle being driven. There is an exemption from the legislation in the form of car-derived vans, i.e. vans that are derived from a car chassis AND have a maximum laden weight of no more than 2 tonnes.
