Number Plate Cameras

Drivers have been caught on Police camera 100 times a year

The new tool, Automatic Number plate Recognition (ANPR), has recorded 3 billion number plates in the past year alone from CCTV cameras. Cars are captured even if not suspected of a crime and the number plate stored for up to two years. Police say this is an essential tool for fighting crime by tracking the movements of vehicles.
