Road tolls dropped
Transport Secretary drops plans to charge motorists for using roads
The idea was to charge as much as £1.30 per mile during rush hour to use the national road network but this has now been abandoned as the result of a petition signed by 1.8 million people. Local road pricing is still being considered, but will only be implemented so long as the public supports the idea.
