Drink driving

Ford boffins have come up with an ethanol assisted engine, capable of 23% better fuel efficiency over petrol enginesThe technology injects alcohol into the fuel mix in the combustion chamber allowing the engine to run at a much higher compression ratio. Normally high compression results in premature ignition of the engine, but adding ethanol suppresses the effect. Ford estimates that the ethanol from a 40l tank would last about 30,000 km.
